The RAF at Temple at War: Honouring the Battle of Britain
For many years, the Temple at War Military & Vintage Show has proudly welcomed the Royal Air Force as a central part of our commemoration of the Battle of Britain. Each year, visitors have the chance to meet serving personnel, veterans, and RAF representatives who bring to life the history, spirit, and legacy of “The Few”.
From early displays of historic uniforms and memorabilia to modern-day RAF stands showcasing today’s technology, the presence of the Royal Air Force has been a highlight of the show. Their attendance bridges the gap between past and present — reminding us that the courage shown in 1940 continues to inspire the servicemen and women of today.

Two Hawker Hurricanes
One Douglas C47 Dakota
Two de Havilland Chipmunks (used for training and currency flying)
The BBMF is based at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, which is also a frontline Typhoon station.
Where possible, the aircraft are kept as authentic as possible, but they are carefully maintained and fitted with modern equipment when required for safety. All major work is carried out by specialist RAF engineers.
They are flown by serving RAF pilots, many of whom fly modern aircraft such as the Typhoon in their frontline roles. They undergo additional training to fly and display the vintage aircraft.
The Flight serves as a living memorial to those who served in the RAF during the Second World War. By flying these historic aircraft at public events, the BBMF keeps the memory of “The Few” and all who sacrificed alive for future generations.
